A further development of the HBV-Plate Floor is the HBV-Hollow Box Floor. The HBV-Shear Connector is glued into the wooden elements of the glued laminated timber in accordance to the structural requirements. Following this, a polystyrene layer is applied. At the building site the large-sized construction element are easily installed using building crane.

The HBV-Hollow Box Floor was developed for long span load bearing structures. Span distance of 15 m and more can be manufactured with this floor variant. Through the application of polystyrene layer, the dead load of the floor is reduced and produced advantages namely in the deformation behaviour. At the same time, the HBV-Hollow Box Floor show exceptional building physic characteristics namely vibration and sound.

The HBV-Hollow Box Floor delivered in general the typical characteristic of a perfect solid wooden floor. Naturally the possibilities exist to install acoustic profile in this load bearing wooden construction.

From its composition and structural behaviour, the HBV-Hollow Box Floor can be compared with pre-stressed concrete box girder ceiling and shows the same merits and positive characteristics.
